A wonderful trustworthy company/owner and a perfect install of my garage opener! So, I just had quite an amazing small-business experience with Pro Garage Door & Gate and its owner, Ben Ezra. A couple weeks ago, his company had advertised a $45 special to perform general maintenance to one's garage door system - i.e. grease the track, check the tension of the door, tighten stuff, that sort of thing. Well, because I have such an old (and squeaky) garage opener (probably a 20-year-old Genie motor) I decided to call the company for this service. Ben came out very quickly that same day and serviced my garage door track and gave the system a touch more tension and got it running quieter. After that quick good service, we parted ways. The very next day however, after using the garage door maybe a half dozen times, the garage motor struggled to operate, the gears turning for a few seconds and then stopping altogether. It sounded bad. So, I called Ben and he came over very quickly, assessed the situation and told me he didn't know why it had stopped working as he hadn't touched the motor the day before when he serviced the system for that $45. Well, you can imagine my suspicions - here I had just got my garage door serviced about 24 hours earlier from this company, I had never had a problem with this motor before and now it's stopped working...? It seemed like a weird (all too weird) coincidence. But here's the thing that is so incredible about Ben and his company and which put my suspicions at ease: He completely agreed how freaky and weird the timing of this all was and he felt awful. And even though this strange coincidence happening (of Ben having serviced the track and the next day the opener's motor craps out), Ben felt it important for me to feel comfortable that his young company is an honest one. So he suggested I purchase an inexpensive but reliable opener from Home Depot (thereby earning absolutely no money off the purchase of this new garage door opener) and then he came the next day to install it in my garage...for absolutely no charge. 100% free install. Ben spent over an hour this morning installing the new system, got it operational and running great, we shook hands and he went on his way. I did not need to give this gentlemen more than the $45 from the original service to the old system days earlier (but forced a few bucks into his hand for lunch or whatever). He just wanted to make sure I knew he was on the up and up and he doesn't want his company to have a bad name. I couldn't believe it. So what originally felt like it could be a sketchy situation turned out to be actually a wonderful experience, dealing with a real professional who runs a real trust-worthy, independent business. It restored my hope in small business...and if I may, humanity a little bit. I encourage any of you in search of garage door repair or installation that you consider using this top shelf company.
